Work-Based Learning

Welcome to Work-Based Learning at Calhoun Community College!

Work-Based Learning Log

At Calhoun Community College, we understand that the best way to prepare for your future career is by gaining hands-on experience while you’re still in school. Work-based learning (WBL) opportunities allow you to connect your classroom learning to real-world skills, giving you a competitive edge in the workforce. Whether you’re interested in gaining job experience, building a professional network, or developing practical skills, our WBL programs are designed to help you succeed.

Our diverse programs offer students the chance to explore various career paths while earning academic credit (in some cases). These experiences are designed to enhance your learning and set you up for long-term career success.

Explore Our Work-Based Learning Programs:

  • Cooperative Learning: Engage in paid, on-the-job training where you can earn academic credit while gaining valuable professional experience.
  • Registered Apprenticeships: Combine classroom education with hands-on work experience in a specific trade or industry.
  • Collaborative Programs: Work alongside industry professionals in a variety of program focus areas (industrial maintenance, machining, aerospace, process technology, and systems engineering) to develop industry-specific skills and build your resume.  Application required; fall start only.
  • Service Learning: Give back to the community while learning through volunteer work and civic engagement.

Looking to get started? You can explore programs that integrate work-based learning into your academic path or find out how to initiate your own WBL experience.
